About my classes

Yoga for your mind, body, and soul.

I infuse my classes with Reiki and thoughtful and uplifting quotes and poems to recharge your mind, body and spirit. Intention cards are available to select at the beginning of class to help guide your internal dialog during class and off your mat as well. Selenite sticks, which are great for clearing your mind and any negative energy in your space, are also available for your use. We begin with a focus on breath-work and a centering meditation and flow into movement to create some heat and stretch and strengthen our mind, body, and spirit. Throughout my class you will be challenged to meet your edge with an open mind and heart. This space where your body and mind feel challenged, but where you should never feel pain, is different for everyone and that is OK. In my classes I encourage you to listen to your body and rest when you need to regardless of what others are doing around you. We meet in yoga class to practice together and share in the experience and the healing, transformative energy. I always end with a with a peaceful and nurturing Savasana and send distance Reiki while you are resting in the peace of the moment on your mat.

All of my weekly classes are held at the Senexet Grange located at 628 Route 169 Woodstock, CT.

Gentle Yoga also known as Slow Vinyasa Flow

Never taken yoga before? No problem! This is a gentle, safe, slow, and nurturing class focused on meditation, breath-work, stretching and gentle strengthening. It is great for beginners or yogis looking to slow it down, breathe, and tune in. You do not need to be flexible, just come with an open mind and heart. Remember, it will take 3-5 classes to learn how to modify each pose for your body and to breathe and allow your body to release into them fully for maximum benefits. Be sure to give yourself the space to learn and grow on your yoga journey. Chairs, blocks, blankets, and straps are all available to assist you on your journey. Throughout class you are encouraged to listen to, honor, and meet your body where ever it is in the moment and to rest when you need to.

Release and Restore: A Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra Class

Yin yoga it's a stretching focused class done with a cool body. Poses are held for 2-5 mins and are all low to the ground. Poses are semi supported if the body needs it and most poses will have a restorative modification to make the pose more nurturing if you body is in need of more restoration. In Yin we compress the ligaments and joints with long holds and breath work to help the fascia to open. Rebound restorative poses will be added in to allow space for cellular healing and hydration. Yin works into the fascia and aids in joint mobility, flexibility and balance. The compression (the holding of the stretch) starves the joint of fluid while stretching the fascia around the joint capsule. When compression is released the joint capsule is freed, but the fascia remains slightly stretched and more open. Fluid, nutrients, and oxygen rushes back to the joint capsule and this flood of hydration is felt in the body as the rebound. Along with this more tangible shift Yin also helps to calm the nervous system (taking you back into Rest and Restore) and clear the energy channels (meridians) of the body through the fascia. This will be a 45-50 min practice with soft, instrumental music playing in the background though class. We will close with a 25 min yoga nidra meditation each week.

The practice of yoga nidra is a practice of yogic sleep that will guide you to a state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleeping. It offers you space to diffuse your triggers around past traumatic events without making you relive them. It gives your mind and body rest and restoration while tapping into your consciousness to help to rewrite the script running in your head. It is a way to drop your cortisol levels and bring optimum function back to your endocrine system. It helps you cultivate a deeper and more embodied mind, body, heart, spirit and soul connection.

The focus is to stretch your body, replenish your energy, nurture your mind, release the things that are no longer serving you and recalibrate your focus.

Vinyasa Flow

Knowledge of basic yoga poses is helpful in this class as it is more moderately paced than my gentle/slow flow classes, but no worries, there will still be time to breath into each pose. Expect to create more heat with more strengthening and balancing poses, but lots of modifications are still given for all levels.

I have added sound bowls to my classes.

In the colder weather months when the sun sets before class begins you will find the space at the Senexet Grange softly lit with candles and fairy lights.

You will find incense burning as you enter class to clear the energies of the space and bring more peace to your body, mind, spirit and soul. Setting the tone for the expansion of a calm mind and an open heart. You have the option to choose an intention card to help direct your practice as well as to borrow a stick of selenite to leave near you mat or place on you during meditation. Selenite is a great grounding and clearing crystal.

It is one of my passions to remind you each class that you are powerful beyond measure!
